Now, with our advanced Icon® resin infiltration system, we can remove white spots in one simple, painless treatment. Whether you struggle with demineralization, fluorosis, or another white-spot-causing issue, we have the solution you need at Boutique for Cosmetic Dentistry.

How Resin Infiltration Works

The Icon® resin infiltration system works by filling in and strengthening demineralized enamel (i.e., areas with white spots). To begin the procedure, we clean the target tooth and prepare it by applying a special gel that opens the enamel’s pores. Then, we apply a resin, which fills the micro-pores. Once in place, we light-cure the resin.

Benefits of infiltration resin

The Icon® resin infiltration system not only masks white spots by matching the natural tooth color but also strengthens enamel and reduces further decay.

We discuss these benefits and others below:

  • Minimally invasive:  Using infiltration resin allows you to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible; drilling is unnecessary! Compared to fillings, veneers, or enamel micro-abrasion, the impact of resin infiltration on tooth structure is negligible.
  • Great aesthetics: Numerous patients have been happy with the results of resin infiltration because it eliminates white spots, leaving teeth one seamless color.
  • No anesthesia required: Are you concerned about resin infiltration being painful? There is no reason. This procedure is virtually painless. Plus, there is no recovery time, meaning you can immediately return to your normal routine.
  • Excellent alternative to micro-abrasion: Resin infiltration removes less enamel and is often more effective than micro-abrasion procedures.
  • Long-lasting solution: The results of the Icon® resin infiltration treatment typically last between two and six years.

What Causes Teeth White Spots?

White spots on teeth are more porous and less translucent areas of enamel that stand out from the surrounding tooth surface. Some white spots are barely noticeable, while others can be quite prominent.

Numerous things cause this issue, such as:

  • Enamel hypoplasia: This happens when enamel cannot develop properly. Nutritional deficiencies, sicknesses during tooth development, and certain genetic factors can cause enamel hypoplasia.
  • Fluorosis: Intaking too much fluoride from drinking water, toothpaste, and supplements during tooth development can leave white spots and streaks on teeth.
  • Poor oral hygiene: Failing to brush and floss regularly can lead to plaque buildup that demineralizes enamel and leaves white spots.
  • Dietary factors: Highly acidic/sugary foods and beverages can weaken enamel and allow white spots to form.
